Our History

In 1977, Model Machine Co., Inc. was established when Norman Wahlhaupter purchased a 40’ x 80’ metal building on a small lot in southeast Baltimore. This had been his life dream since high school. No small feat since he lost his right leg at 5 yrs old. His son John, at 17 still in his junior year of high school was more than happy to follow his dad’s lead and join him.

Over the next 39 years, customer demands allowed Model Machine to steadily grow along with building additions and lot purchases in the 80’s into the 90’s with the purchased of the building next door to put us currently at 24K under roof with 20+ employees/30+ CNC machines.

As of Nov 1, 2016, John Wahlhaupter (son) purchased the facility, machinery along with the business to carry on the Model Machine legacy. It’s business as usual with all the same group of highly dedicated people with only two noticeable changes. One, Norman along with his wife Dianne have moved onto a much deserved life of retirement.

The other is our new name……….“Model Precision Machine Inc”
